I have always been drawn to all things creative and am plagued with the perpetual urge to experiment with a new medium or form of creative expression. As an artsy kid and an only child in a rural area, acrylic paint was accessible, versatile and became a tried and true friend. Lacking the bravery to pursue art as a career, I went to San Jose State University and earned a “sensible” degree in graphic design and business. I’ve now circled back to my childhood dream of being an artist.
I taught acrylic classes in the Seattle area for two years and found teaching art to be a new facet of creativity I love to explore. Hearing “you’re going to laugh at my painting, I‘m no artist” at the beginning of class, to “maybe I’ll buy some paints and do this at home”, makes me feel like I’m fulfilling part of my purpose in life.
